Why join RESDA

The Royal Engineers Sports Diving Association was formed on the 1st Jan 09. It was formed from the Gib-UK dive club after it was recognised as a sport by the RE sports board and given funding to assist in equipment maintenance and to purchase new equipment. RESDA is the most active BSAC dive club within the British Army, much of its success is due to it being a joint military / civilian club.

The club meets every Wednesday between 7 and 9pm, at Gibraltar Barracks pool, in Minley and anyone is free to visit, try dives occur on the last Wednesday of each month.

GIB-UK becomes RESDA - Why

RESDA will secure the future of the club and raise the bar for club equipment with a kit purchase and replacement programme funded in part by the Royal Engineers. The club has needed to purchase new equipment for some time and the income generated has never been sufficient.

To the core membership of the club very little will change, if anything the opportunities for diving and training will increase. This is because RESDA will provide Royal Engineers Sub-Aqua training to the wider Corps with specific Diver training, Skill Development Courses (SDC) and expeditions. These activities will be proiritised to RE soldiers, including club members and then free places will be filled up by non RE club members

What equipment is going to be purchased?

4 completed sets of diving equipment per year for 5 years, this will include

Regulators and Octopus (AS) with triple console
Full 3 piece Semi-dry suits
Mask fins and snorkel
Gloves and Boots
Torchs

Plus

6 x Dive Computers
£4000+ for annual maintenance costs
